5.Unorganised sector workers devoid of basic rights - A workshop FES/ AILS Workshop on Promotion of Youth Participation in INTUC affiliated Unions was held on July 13-14, 2008 at Kolkata [ West Bengal]. The workshop was organized by Friedrich Ebert Stiftung and Ambekar Institute of Labour Studies. The workshop having participation of trade union functionaries discussed issues that would help in promoting active participation of youth and women.

15.National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme does not cater to all – A two day workshop on “Securing work under National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme [NREG]” was organized by Deshkal Society jointly with Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, India office on 28-29 April 2007 in Gaya, Bihar. The workshop was attended by NGO representatives, prominent personalities and academicians working on the same issue. The participants shared various the bottlenecks in implementation of the scheme and debated the outreach of this scheme. 23.Training of Sarpanches in Gram Sabhas – A two day NGO strategy sharing meeting was organized by Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, India office and SOHARD, in Udaipur from 25-26 February 2007. The meeting is aimed at building up linkages between NGOs active in the State in the area of womens' emancipation, empowerment and people’s participation in self governance. These objectives of this particular meeting were to understand the concept behind the 73rd Constitutional Amendment, and the need to enhance women's participation under this dispensation. As Rajasthan has a large tribal population which comes under Schedule 5, the need to understand their rights under the present legislative framework and discuss the historical background behind the socio-economic backwardness of the tribal societies in the State.

24.Meeting on domestic workers rights– On 25th October 2006, Centre for Women’s Development and Research, in association with Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, India office organized a meeting in Chennai. This was an important event as this was the first meeting of domestic workers after registering “Manushi”, a trade union for domestic workers. More than 600 domestic workers participated in this meeting. In the evening a human chain was organized to campaign for domestic workers rights.

43.Domestic workers seek legal status – On 23rd July 2005, Centre for Women’s Development and Research, in association with Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, India office organized a meeting of more than 550 domestic workers in Chennai. The NGOs from Chennai and Madurai who are working with domestic workers helped in organizing this meeting. After the meeting, a rally was organized in front of the Governors’ residence. This was the first time such an event was organised in Tamilnadu and all stakeholders including government officials participated in the meeting.
